Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, 107 Miller Street, Grantsville, Md. Garrett County Company 60. This is their old station. The recently built a new station at 178 Spring Road in Grantsville. Grantsville was organized June 25, 1928 and is all volunteer. This old station appears to be shared with some sort of business. Unfortunately this is another case of no website, no information.

Beale Street
This is late night on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. It was a scene but maybe sometime it picks up. Just not the party central I expected.
Taking One for the Mets
Listen closely and you can almost feel the fastball hitting David Wright's batting helmet. He doesn't seem any worse for the wear, though. Might have caught his shoulder first. David plays third base for the New York Mets. This was at Citi Field in NYC last June.
Beer
Lee Brice singing his song "Beer" at a free concert in front of the Grand Ole Opry. Just an hour ealier I passed him in a hallway inside the Opry. "Hey Freddie, I'm already ready for another down here. Beer."
DCC on City Island
Some of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders doing a routine between innings of a Harrisburg Senators Baseball game. I just love baseball.
Street Corner
This is right in front of Manayana Buddhist Temple looking down Canal Street at the Bowery, NYC. The entrance to the Manhattan Bridge is to my back.
The Lion King
This guy mimicked the big lions, matching them move for move. Lunar New Years 2013, Chinatown, NYC.
Shooting from the Hip
Mr Met firing off another t-shirt into an innocent crowd. No body saw it coming. He was such a nice guy. A drive by shirting. Tragic.

Riding Back into Base Camp
Riding back into base camp after a week above 10,000 feet in the White River National Forest of north central Colorado. We were tired, hungry and stinky but we didn't let the snow bother us. We still had an hour long 5 mile drive to get back onto the hardtop. Then another hour to get back to a warm shower, a hot pizza and a cold beer.

Lowes Safety Day 2013
The Vigilant Hose Company along with the rest of the Shippensburg Fire Department and fire companies from around the area showed up for the annual Lowes Safety Day at Lowes in Shippensburg, Pa. Medevac helicopters from Life Lion of Penn State Hershey and LifeNet were also there for public view.

Flying Bull
Maybe I should say "Flying Cowboy", instead. This poor fella did not make his required 8 seconds nor did he waste much time getting back to the fence. This was from Saturday night's Bull Ride Mania at the Farm Show Building in Harrisburg.
I think I will designate this week ThemeWeek: Video.

Caporale's Bakery
On a walkabout in Cumberland Maryland this bakery caught my eye. I'll bet it lookled like this forever. I did not stop by for a snack but the more I post pictyures of places like this I need to start. A sweet roll would have been nice. Or a slice of tomato pie. Or...

The World Will Little Note, Nor Long Remember...
150 years ago, on a train ride from Washington, President Lincoln put the finishing touches on his speech he was to give at the Consecration of the National Cemetery at Gettysburg. This, just four and a half months after the Union victory on the battlefields of Gettysburg. These "few appropriate remarks" followed a two hour oration by Edward Everett. Everett would write to the President that, "I should be glad that I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes."

Early Winter on Devil's Half Acre Road
Winter seemed to come early to Western Maryland when Old Man Winter tossed a little reminder to the mountain side on the Free State. I posted this farm back in the spring almost six months ago.

Coplay Fire Department
Coplay Fire Department, 165 Cherry Street, Coplay, Pa. Lehigh County Station 5. Not much can be found on when fire protection began in Coplay or when this building was built. Fire protection, I believe, goes back to the turn of the 20th century. In December of 2005 the Coplay Borough Council enacted an ordinance that separated the Coplay Fire Department (the active firefighters) from the Coplay Fire Company (the social club). In 2010 the Fire Company transferred the station at 165 Cherry Street and it's debt load to the borough. Part of the deal was they could no longer use the name Coplay Fire Company. The "Social Club" is now known as Commitment to Family and Community" (CFC) and they lease the building from the Borough to hold fundraisers. I'm sure my version doesn't cover all aspects of this but I am only here to give the history of the building that I can find available.

Your Wake Up Call
I was out of bed Saturday morning early enough for it to be a weekday. But somewhere between dark and light, a mere 15-20 minutes, this happened. How could anyone sleep through this?

Downtown Louisville
Some of the awesome architecture along Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky. I'd almost go back just to walk the town and see more of this.

Rob Baird, I Swear It's the Truth
While in Memphis last summer I told you about seeing Cody Canada and the Departed at Minglewood Plaza. Well, Rob Baird was the opening act. Just Rob and his guitar. I had never heard of Rob before this but I now have 3 of his songs on my ipod. Not sure what label you would put on his music. Just a singer songwriter, country guy out of the red dirt scene. You tube him sometime, Beer and Gasoline, Crash Hard or Same Damn Thing.
"Good luck to the girls at the side of the stage, Boys at the bar makin' minimum wage,
Every lost soul out there on the interstate,
Well we'll all be here til the lights burn out, we'll all keep swingin', just strike out,
Tryin' to find heaven, taking what the devil brings,
Oh, everybody's out there lookin' for the same damn thing."

A Drive Down Huckleberryland Road
Here is probably one of my last pictures of fall. This was taken last Sunday, a week ago. Today there is probably very few leaves left on the trees. Some rain and a lot of wind took care of that. It was good while it lasted.

There is No Dark Side of the Moon, Really, Matter of Fact It's All Dark
Wednesday evening I took the camera and tripod out back on the hill to shoot the moon. I think this is the fist moon pictures with my T4i. Getting all the settings just right is something it always take me a bit to remember. You shoot a lot faster than you would think. Bottom picture is our moon and Venus.

Lost Somewhere in Time
I drove out of Walnut Bottom to see if they had picked the corn in front of this old dilapidated barn. I was a little sad that they hadn't because the trees beyond the barn were just right. So, dammit, I took pictures of it anyways.

And Autumn Rolls On
Sunday morning found me circling the Game Lands. No deer. Lots of little birds, a few hawks and a vulture. I could hear some Ringed Neck Pheasants cackling. That's one sound that takes me back to when I was a kid. Hunting the fields around my house after school. No gun on this walk, just my Canon.
