Rescue Hose Company No. 1, old station, 60 North Washington Street, Greencastle, Pa. Franklin County Company 3. Rescue Hose was formed in 1897 and added an Ambulance Squad in 1967. This building was built in 1888, I believe for or by the American Steam Fire Engine Company (organized in 1884, disbanded in 1892) and later occupied by the RHC. Rescue Hose Company eventually moved to quarters on South Carlisle Street. In 1998 they moved to 842 South Washington Street, their current home. This building currently houses Borough offices and the Police Department.

Fort Niagara
This is Fort Niagara, which is in the United States, from a park bench in Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is in Canada. Originally built in 1678 to protect New France it was rebuilt several times. It saw action in the mid 1700's in the French-Indian Wars. It was captured by the British during the war of 1812. It has been in U.S. control since.

Lesser Fritillary
I don't know how someone identifies butterflies. There is such small differences between them. Some are so slight. I think this is a Lesser Fritillary. Could be a Greater Fritillary. Or a Great Spangled Fritillary. Or ....

Birds of Glacier Bay, part 2
OK, here is part two of my Birds of Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. First an foremost is the bird I most hoped to see in Alaska, the Tufted Puffin. I saw a few of these. Some swimming and some flying. The next is one of a bunch of Pacific Loons we saw. This guy was hell bent on out swimming the ship.

Intersection of Clifton Hill and Falls Avenue
9:30 at night in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The night was just getting started. Clifton Hill, the Niagara Boardwalk, is to the right. The Niagara River is half a block to my left. The hard Rock Cafe is behind me and the Skylon Tower and the Casino are lit up out there in front of me.

Launch Time
This was our third trip to Green Grove Gardens in Greencastle, Pa. to watch the hot air balloons launch and glow. The first two two trips it was under the banner of Balloon Fest. This trip it was now Summer Sky Festival. But unlike the last time the window of opportunity presented itself and off they went. It was a little on the breezy side so some of the flights were quicker but farther.

Birds of Glacier Bay
Part one of two of the birds I saw in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska. Granted that I didn't get pictures of all the different birds I saw, these are just some. First there is the Palagic Cormorant. There a little different than the double-crested cormorants we see at the beach or at Conowingo Dam. They're mostly black with the white at the base of their wings. Then of course you'll see the ever present Bald Eagle. We saw them everywhere. We did, by the way, see some Golden Eagles from the bus in Denali. And finally for today, is the Black-legged Kittiwake. Yeah, I though it was just another gull, too.
