OK, I don't know about you all, but I think I'm overdue for a road trip. And that road doesn't need to be really long. Seeing something more than my own four walls would do the soul some good. hmmm

Let It Snow

Well the first day of spring showed up last Friday with a day long snow fall. It took until Saturday afternoon to erase it. Even so, the daffodils are starting to push through and the snow drops are here. I even planted some seeds it the house looking forward to another colorful summer.

This is scenes from the Toronto Railway Museum. We didn't go inside, we just wandered around the displays outside the roundhouse. If you were a rail fan this would be an excellent place to check out.

Cody Canada and the Departed

Sorry for not posting on Friday but Thursday ran late. We drove two and a half hours to see Cody Canada and the Departed and Jason Boland and the Stragglers. They were playing at the Sellersville Theater. Sellersville is nearly halfway between Allentown and Philadelphia. This was my second Departed concert,  we saw them in Memphis two summers ago. Awesome concert in a small venue. Can't wait to see them again.

Morning Rays

I thought I'd continue the Alaska theme into today's post. This is where the Gulf of Alaska meets Glacier Bay. If you look close just left of center on the big rock is the Cape Spencer Lighthouse.

Husky Homestead

The Husky Homestead just outside of Denali National Park is the home base for four time Iditarod winner Jeff King. We visited here on our first night in Denali. They talked about raising the dogs and demonstrated their training routine. Afterwards we went inside and Jeff talked about what it's like to ride a dog sled 1100 miles. Along with racing in 11 Iditerods (Anchorage to Nome, Alaska) and winning 4, Jeff has more than a dozen other wins to his credit, including the Yukon Quest, another 1100 mile race from Fairbanks, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.
