Haines Brewing
After our nature tour in Haines, Alaska we took a short walk from the ship through what was Fort William H. Seward to the Fireweed Restaurant. A couple slices of pizza and a Spruce Tip Ale. Yes, It is brewed with real spruce tips. And it did taste like it. Later we took the town bus for a few laps around the area. One of the stops was at the Haines Brewing Company located at the Southeast Alaska Fairgrounds in a building the was moved here after the filming of the movie White Fang. Neat setup they had. There was other small shops in some of the buildings. I'm sure that once it's fairtime the place gets hopping. Get it? Brewing? Hopping? Oh, well.

Welcome Winter
Yesterday was the official first day of winter. We had colder days throughout fall. We had snow during this past fall. Yesterday was a nice day. Started a little chilly but the sunshine made for a comfortable walk in the woods and fallow fields out at the local State Game Lands.

Sons of Israel
There are many building in and around south central Pennsylvania that I've always admired as I drove by. Many, I think, "I'm gonna stop and gets some pictures of that building someday." The Sons of Israel synagogue on the northeast corner of King and Second Streets in Chambersburg is one of them. It was originally the Second Congregation of the Methodist Episcopal Church and purchased in 1878 by the King Street Evangelical United Brethren Church and in 1939 it was purchased by the Congregation Sons of Israel. The synagogue is the only one in Franklin, Adams, Fulton and Southern Cumberland Counties.

Smudge
You probably thought I forgot about the whale pictures. Nope. This is one of the humpback whales we saw surfacing on our Alaskan Whale Watch. This is on Auke Bay north of Juneau. Along with our bus trip into Denali National Park, this is one of the best parts of the entire Alaska trip last June. This is whale number 1538, better known as Smudge. This is 10 pictures out of a sequence of 29 I took of this whale surfacing.

The Cookie Apocalypse Has Begun
Lord help us. The Cookie Apocalypse is upon us. You know it's gonna be epic when you have to hit two different Wal-Marts to get enough butter. There is 20 plus pounds of flour, 16 pounds of sugar, 5 dozen eggs and more than 8 pounds of chocolate chips. Any attempt at diet is futile.

The Original Famous Hot Weiner Lunch (PG202)

Irregardless this memorable joint sits at he corner of York Street and Broadway in Hanover, Pa. It's where "old tradition comes alive" since 1923. This is one of three locations in Hanover.
