There is more than a couple rock outcrops in Colorado known as Chimney Rock. This is the second best known and is in Montezuma County, 18 miles south southwest of Cortez and 18 miles east northeast of 4 Corners. I know about this stone building on the back side of the Rock but a sign similar to the one pictured dissuaded me from driving around. A local saw me turn around and flagged me down. After 45 minutes of talking and him telling me it was fine to drive around I was able to check this destination off the road trip to do list.
