Indian River County Emergency Services, Station 2, 3301 Bridge Plaza Drive, Vero Beach, Florida. Firefighting in Vero Beach was organized in 1921 and the Vero Beach Volunteer Fire Department was formed December 17, 1923. In 1980 they formed the South Indian River County Fire District and by a referendum vote in 1991 they became the Indian River County Department of Emergency Services (now IRCES). The original Beach Station #2 was built in 1957. That station was damaged by back to back Hurricanes, Frances and Jeanne, in September 2004. This station replaced the old one.
