The Alamo 1983

July 25, 1983: Town visit from U.S. Air Force basic training into San Antonio, of course lead all the airmen to the Alamo. The Alamo Mission itself was built in the early 1700's as a Roman Catholic Mission and became the scene of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. The stone building with the bell above the door was actually built in 1937 as a Texas Centennial Museum. The monument is the Alamo Cenotaph. Erected to celebrate the centennial of the battle and includes the names of those who fought here for Texas.

Colorado 1990

In the fall of 1990 we made our second trip to the Meeker area of Colorado hunting elk and mule deer. Most of were still learning how to hunt the west. We brought home two bucks. in the top picture that young buck got stuck in the fence when he tried to jump it.  Dad and I freed him and let him go on the other side of the fence. Momma was nearby yelling the whole time.

Chincoteague 1999

Let's start scan-week with pictures from our first family trip to Chincoteague Island, Virginia. While I had been here as a kid this was the first time with my kids. The first of many many trips. The Chincoteague Island sign was near the old drawbridge. That bridge has been gone for 5 or 6 years now. The boat was along the north side of the causeway over from the mainland. The ponies are in  Black Duck Marsh and the rest are along the Wildlife Loop.
