The Alamo 1983

July 25, 1983: Town visit from U.S. Air Force basic training into San Antonio, of course lead all the airmen to the Alamo. The Alamo Mission itself was built in the early 1700's as a Roman Catholic Mission and became the scene of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. The stone building with the bell above the door was actually built in 1937 as a Texas Centennial Museum. The monument is the Alamo Cenotaph. Erected to celebrate the centennial of the battle and includes the names of those who fought here for Texas.
