Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department






Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department, 6200 Belcrest Road, Hyattsville, Maryland. Prince George's County Station 801, 4th Battalion. The HVFD was established in 1888, the current station was built in 1958 as a substation to the main station on Farragut Street (which closed in 1969).  In 1988 an additional bay was added to house the ladder truck. HVFD is a combination fire and EMS station and is 100% volunteer evenings and weekends. Volunteers run approximately 70% of the total calls. First due includes the City of Hyattsville, the Town of University Park and the Chillum Road and Queens Chapel Road areas. This station is scheduled to be razed soon and construction will begin on their new station.
