South Ward Fire Company, Inc.







South Ward Fire Company, Inc., 325 Van Gelder Street, Tamaqua, Pa. Schuylkill County District 65, Station 4. Formed October 22, 1913, their first building was built at the intersection of Swatara and Van Gelder Streets. This building was demolished and a new brick station was built in 1950. In 1989 a 3 bay garage was built to house equipment and later expanded to 6 bays when the old station was sold. SWFC is one of four companies in the borough with an annual call volume around 120. They run with an engine, a squad, a utility and two brush trucks.
