Lewes Fire Department, Station 1, 347 East Savannah Road, Lewes, Delaware. Sussex County Station 82. Organized fire protection in Lewes began in 1796 and reorganized several times until the forming of Lewes Volunteer Fire Department in 1886. They were incorporated in 1923. Originally housed in the town hall they moved in 1931 to a firehouse located at this same location. The current station was built in 1992 and the museum was added in 2007. LFD operate out of three stations, Station 2 is on Janice Road and Station 3 is on John J. Williams Highway. Station 3 is shared with the Rehoboth Beach VFC.
