Bowie Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., Station 39, 15454 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland. Prince George's County. Formed in early 1928, apparatus was originally housed in an auto repair garage. The first station was built on Chapel Avenue and dedicated December 17, 1928. In 1938 BVFD started a rescue squad service. A larger firehouse was built on 9th Street and dedicated May 4, 1939. In September 1965 a second station (this station) was opened on Annapolis Road. A third station was added in April 1970. In July 1975 a new station 19 was opened and an addition was added in 1987. Station 39 houses an engine, tower ladder, BLS unit, brush truck, utility and UTV.
