Middlesboro Fire Department, Station 1

 

Middlesboro Fire Department, Station 1 and Headquarters, 215 North 20th Street, Middlesboro, Kentucky, Bell County. Formed before 1900, the MFD operate out of 2 stations with a tower, 3 engines, a tanker, a command unit and 6 ambulances. The old firehouse was a part of the Municipal Building built in 1911 and sat across the street from the current station. Most of the occupants of the building moved out in 1979 leaving just the fire and ambulance. In September of 1986 a fire burned parts of the abandoned portion leaving the fire and ambulance areas with slight damages. Later in 1986 they moved across the street to their new and current house.
