LAFD was formed in 1886 and is the third largest municipal department in the U.S.

Los Angeles Fire Department Museum, old Station 36
Los Angeles Fire Department, (aka LA City FD) Harbor Museum, old Station 36, 639 South Harbor Boulevard, San Pedro, California. LAFD began as a volunteer fire department in 1871 and became a career department in 1886. It is the third largest department in the U.S., after New York and Chicago. Old Station 36 opened in 1928 and moved to 1005 North Gaffey Street in San Pedro on July 8, 2007.

Alameda County Fire Department, Station 34
Alameda County Fire Department, Station 34, 2333 Powell Street, Emeryville, California. ACFD formed July 1, 1993 as a dependent special district with the Alameda County Board of Supervisors as it's governing body, merging Castro Valley FD, Eden Consolidated FPD and County Fire Patrol. Since then more communities have joined; the City Of Emeryville joined July 1, 2012. This building was built in 1989 with major repairs in 2015.

Temecula Fire Department, Station 73, 27415 Enterprise Circle West, Temecula, California, Riverside County. The Temecula Volunteer Fire Department began operations in 1963. In 1969 they formed the Rancho California - Temecula Volunteer Fire Company and in 1992 renamed to the City of Temecula Fire Department. Station 73 predates 1990 and recently underwent major renovations.

City of Santee Fire Department, Station 4, 8950 Cottonwood Avenue, Santee, California, San Diego County. Santee Fire Department was established in 1956 as a county fire protection district. When Santee was incorporated as a city the fire department became a municipal city department. The SFD run out of two stations , as well as an administration building, with two paramedic engines, a paramedic truck two paramedic ambulances and a battalion chief. Local 4373 joined the International Association of Firefighters in 2004.

Los Angeles County Fire Department, Station 127
Los Angeles County Fire Department, Station 127, 2049 East 223rd Street, Carson, California. LACoFD Division 1, Battalion 7. Built in 1966 and dedicated on May 28, 1985 to Robert A. Cinader. This station is the inspiration and exterior filming location of the TV series "Emergency!" which ran from 1972 through 1977 and several TV movies from 19787 to 1980. The show followed the Fireman and Paramedics of the fictional Station 51.
In 1949 the Consolidated Fire Protection District was established to bring together numerous fire districts around since the 1920's. From 1967 to 1986 there were 4 Districts along with the Foresters and Fire Warden. In 1978 the separate districts were dissolved into CFPD. From 1986 until 1992 it was CFPD and F&FW. In 1992CFPD annexed all remaining unincorporated in the county, including F&FW into CFPD.

Los Angeles Fire Department, Fire Station 5
Los Angeles Fire Department, Station 5, Westchester/LAX, 8900 Emerson Avenue, Westchester, Los, Angeles, California. LAFD began as a volunteer company, becoming a city fire department on February 1, 1886. Engine 5 dates to 1888. Originally housed at Towne Avenue and Forth Street 1888-1912, 525 East Forth Street from 1912-1950, 6621 West Manchester from 1950-2006 and moving into this station, alongside the Los Angeles International Airport, in 2006. LAFD consists of 3246 firefighters and respond to more than 1300 fire calls every day.
