Entering Wyoming

Well, that's a wrap on the trip for now. I hope I didn't bore everyone too much. We'll be back to our regular programming tomorrow. There will continue to be a post or two from the trip every week, but I've got a backlog of other pictures to post and new adventures in the works. Thanks again for tuning in. Golden Spike Tower

It's all about timing. You would think I'd learn. The last hurrah of the trip was a stop in North Platte, Nebraska at the Golden Spike Tower. When leaving Cheyenne I calculated that we had plenty of time to stop and check out this tower that overlooks the world's largest classification yard. I'm sure if you were here on a busy day you could hang out and just watch all day. As for timing... always remember that at certain places, while traveling west to east, you tend to lose a hour of time. So, we showed up here with 50 minutes to spare.

Wyoming Territorial Prison

Wyoming Territorial Prison, Laramie, Wyoming. Built in 1872 and used until 1901. Known as the only prison that Robert LeRoy Parker ever spent time in (1894-1896). After his release for good behavior he became better known as Butch Cassidy. We stopped here late in the afternoon so the low sun and wildfire smoke gave everything and orange glow.

Grand Teton Morning Views

Our second morning found us headed back over Teton Pass from Idaho and into Jackson, Wyoming (47 miles). Then out to Mormon Row to catch the sunrise on the Moulton Brothers' barns (18 miles). Next was north to catch the views at Oxbow Bend on the Snake River. (25 miles). Back to the visitors center (21 miles) then over to Teton View overlook and Schwabachers Landing for more Snake River reflections. (6 miles). Then finally into Jackson for breakfast (17 miles). That's 134 miles before breakfast. Did I mention how big this Park is?
