Peaches (PG 183)

How I missed these Peaches for so long I'll never know. I first noticed them last month when we were leaving the Christmas tree farm. This bar sits a quarter of a mile off the paved road and 12 miles southeast across the valley from Derricks Orchard. Located near Huntsdale and the intersection of Pine Road and Route 233. This was my initial destination on my adventure last Sunday.

Lonely Day in the Park

Boredom took over Sunday morning. I waited and knew the sun was bound to come out so I went for a ride. Ended up at Kings Gap Environmental Education Center. The sun may have been shining but there was plenty of haze.

Praktica, 3rd Variation

I picked this up at a sale recently. I bought this and another old Kodak Brownie Flash for five bucks. This Praktica is really clean (ignore the dust, please) and included a fitted leather case. The Praktica 3rd Variation was made in Dresden, Germany (old East Germany) in the early 1950's. I may eventually sell it but I think I would like to run a roll of 35mm through it first.

Colorado Calm

When I first saw Solitary Lake and Derby Peak in the distance all I could think of was the classic mountain-reflecting-in-some-seldom-seen-lake picture. At times there was a ring of ice on the lake; no problem. The sun shined enough. Plenty of snow on the mountain top. My nemesis that week, whether hunting or taking this picture, was wind. When the wind wasn't blowing, it was blowing harder. This is as calm as it got. As windy as it got was 20 mph sustained and 40 mph gusts.

No Fishing, Crabbing Only

The eye in the sky at Captain Bob's in Chincoteague. And, no that is not my crab trap. I use the baited net method for catching the famous blue crabs. In the summer of 2011 I bought a wire net trap to replace one of my aging cotton net traps. I've never been much of a fisherman, I don't have the patience. But I do enjoy relaxing while at the beach and crabbing.

Happy 2013

Last night wasn't too cold, but it was cold enough. As usual we showed up on the square, here in Shippensburg, for the 11th annual Anchor Drop. Same crowd. Nearing the midnight hour everyone seems to seep out of the local watering holes to become a witness to the Drop. Then within 15 minutes they evaporate back to where the came from. One of these years I'll stand somewhere else so that my New Year's Day post doesn't look just like last years, or the year before that, or 2010, or even 2008. (Some how I missed out on 2009). I guess this is the first time the ladder truck dropped it.
Here's to a safe a prosperous New Year's.
