Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company, Station 9

Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company, 31 Academy Street, Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. AHHLCo was organized in 1888, the main (center) part of the station was built in 1922.. The north and south wings were added in 1941-42. This station sits just a half block and opposite the original station. 

The Assateague Seashell Tree

Who says that seashells don't grow on trees? (actually who says they do?) This is a hit or miss deal on Assateague. I don't see one every trip there but this is the second time we found one. And it had everything. Here's the one from the summer of 2010.

Twirly Top... Since the 50's

It's been so long ago that I was here I don't even remember the last time I was here. Actually I thought they had closed. But last summer I passed by and there was quite a crowd in the lot. They are for sale and they are closed in January. The Twirly Top has been around "Since the 50's" at the corner of Pine Grove Road and Carlisle Road (Route 34) in Gardners, Pa. . Just down the road from Mt. Holly Springs.

Foggy Day

It was afternoon until I got out yesterday, but the fog was still holding on. Some of these are from just driving around the State Game Lands and some are from a short walk I took. The center picture shows some of Hurricane Sandy's handy work.

Middlesex Township VFC, Butler County, PA

Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Company, 130 Browns Hill Road, Valencia, Pa. Butler County Company 16. Established in 1948, I don't know when this building was built but a severe storm in the summer of 2012 peeled most of the roof off. The F-I-R-E on the doors must be a Butler County thing. Mars Volunteer Fire Company did the same thing.
