Niagara Falls is Falling Down

Or so it would seem. These two buildings are in the Clifton Hill district of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Both are on Oneida Lane, Ripley's is actually on Clifton Hill. This place looks a lot different in the daylight.

Patriots Day, year 13

Has it been 13 years? Can you believe it? Half of the kids in school have been born since 2001. (kindergarten through 7th or 8th grade) Do you think they are teaching them about that day? Do you think they are explaining how to avoid this happening again? Well, today I'll be thinking about those lost that morning and those who continue to see that it doesn't happen again. Thank you for your service. Remember that the war on terror didn't start with the attacks on the World Trade Center. Our troops had been on that front line for a long time before that and will forever need to fight that fight.

The Last Super Moon

Out shooting the moon again last night. Don't know what the hype is about the super moon. It's not like I can tell that it is any closer to earth. It is still 222,718 miles out there.

Allentown Fire Department, old Goodwill No. 3

Allentown Fire Department, Goodwill No. 3, 22 South 8th Street, Allentown, Pa. Lehigh County. In 1870 four volunteer fire companies (American Hose, Goodwill, Columbia and Liberty) united to form the Allentown Fire Department. I find no history of when this station was established, built or closed. Although I did find reference that this station housed a steam fire engine and hose carriage. The AFD currently run out of 6 stations.

This is just some of the small critters making themselves at home around here these days. The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail was here last week, The rest were here yesterday afternoon. The Praying Mantis was out on the front porch. The Cicada was on a weed over by the garden hose box. The Fritillaries and the Monarch were back on the Mexican Sunflowers.

Common Buckeye

Caught this Common Buckeye hanging out on my little rainbow butterfly bush. Him and a few fritillaries were sharing time between this and the Mexican Sunflowers in my backyard.
