Easton Fire Department, South Side

City of Easton Fire Department, South Side Station #4, 424 Reynolds Street, Easton, Pa. Northampton County Station 20. Fire service in Easton started in 1797 with the Humane Fire Company. The city's paid department was established in 1879. With the annexation of South Easton in 1882, Engine Company 4 was established at the corner of Reynolds and Berwick Streets. The South Side Station was built in 1904, modernized in the 1940's and underwent a major renovation in 1997.

Wehr's Covered Bridge

Wehr's Covered Bridge is the centerpiece of the Covered Bridge Park in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County. The Burr Truss style bridge was  built in 1841 it's 117 feet spans Jordan Creek. Entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Sunrise on the Eastern Plains

This picture alone makes me want to catch a plane to Colorado just to drive around on the plains of eastern Colorado. Don't get me wrong I love the mountains. But this is the real west out here. This is along Route 24 five minutes west of Falcon, Colorado.

Niagara Falls Light Show

Every evening after the sun goes down the big lights come out. Since 1925 the Niagara Falls Illumination Board has shined those lights on the falls. Often different colors for different occasions. OK, now follow me here. The American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls is Red, White and Blue. And the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side are Red, White and Red. Think about that one for a while.

The Avalanche Chute

This is the avalanche cute just above the Icebox. It looked like the snow got to be 3 or 4 feet deep and froze then it snowed more. Then came the avalanche that sheared off the trees 3 or 4 feet up. They were all piled up at the bottom of the hill. At this point I am one mile from camp. It took me three hours to cover that distance through the dark timber.

Allentown Fire Department, old Keystone No. 15

Allentown Fire Department, old Keystone No. 15, 1916 1/2 Greenleaf Street, Allentown, Pa. Lehigh County. Allentown Fire Department was formed in 1870 from the four volunteer companies serving the city. Keystone Fire Company opened it's doors on November 26, 1929 becoming Allentown's 14th station. In 1985 Keystone No. 15  and Franklin No. 10 moved into the West End Station at 2145 Turner Street. Engine 15 has since been taken out of service. The old firehouse seems to have been converted to residential purposes.
