This old water tower is in Harrisburg, Pa. near the intersection of Ninth Street and Cumberland Street behind the W.O. Hickok Manufacturing building. The building itself deserves a post. Some day I'll wander back for some more pictures.
The inside of the building is really cool, with the construction and large safe. By the way the building and tower go by a 900 block of Herr St. address. Another little piece of history, just to the right of the building is where Cowden & Wilcox pottery was located. It was a great spot for receiving and shipping goods on the canal located beside it and it's closeness to the railroad.
By the looks of it I'm not positive Cumberland Street is even open. And by 'canal' do you mean Paxton Creek? Or is there another canal? We're working on Herr Street over Paxton Creek, that's why this week is Hickok, last week was Subway Cafe. Should have walked up for some Four Aces pictures.
No, not the Paxton most of it made up the Canal. I am talking about the Pennsylvania canal. It was part of a large system linking many industrial areas of the state. When you are at Wildwood park you can see remains of it with water in it and a historical marker.
Cumberland St. stops at 3rd and picks up again after Cameron in the projects.
You should have called me and stopped in, I am just around the corner and I never leave. When I got off this morning it was my first day off since last Tuesday. I plan to drink lots of Porter before having to go back on Thanksgiving.
Mow when are we going to go take a few photos together.
Here is a cool item they make at buddingco the Cowden and Wilcox spot - Next to the water tower. Its a painted 'Picbrick' with the old harrisburg cowden and wilcox art.

Here is a video about the picbricks http://www.picbrick.com/
I always thought they should put picbrick pictures on the water tower to dress up the graffiti. Thanks for the pic
