This is what I was attempting to get when I took this picture. Each mountain and tree row showing as a different layer. I don't why but this looks ten times better on my computer than here on the blog. The far mountains are probably 15 miles away along the Colorado River.

The Trail
As I started to tell yesterday, I just returned from my semi annual, mind clearing/ altitude adjustment/ elk hunt/ camping trip. My mind was cleared. Our camp was set up at 10,700 feet above sea level. For a week I didn't get below 10,000 feet and actually went on a walkabout Tuesday afternoon and climbed above 11,000 feet. I camped. Six close friends and family in a 16 by 20 foot canvas tent. Tucked into my sleeping bag by 8:30 every evening listening to the chorus of coyotes outside in the dark. Unfortunately, the elk hunt, for me, remained a hunt.

Good Morning, Colorado
1750 miles from home. 2000 miles from the beach. And I am still taking pictures of the sunrise. But when you're not at home, and not at the beach, I can think of no better sunrise than one coming up over the high country of north central Colorado. It almost feels like home.

Building 17
Building 17 at the State Insane Asylum in Norristown, Pa. This building was used for patient housing and treatment. Possibly built in the late 1800's the date above the porch reads 1932. Not sure when it was abandoned but it seems that it hasn't seen use in at least 30 years. I should have saved this one for Halloween next week.

Main Street Manayunk looking northwest. The overpass is the Manayunk Bridge, or Pencoyd Viaduct, it is an old Pennsylvania Railroad bridge. SEPTA later took over the bridge but closed in in 1986. I had better pictures of it crossing the Schuylkill River I'll have to post sometime. Manayunk is in Northwest Philadelphia, Pa.

The Raglin Hand-Craft Mills (PG 180)
The Raglin Hand-Craft Mills, Minerva Mills, founded 1906 , Philadelphia. Located on East Louther Street in Carlisle, Pa. What first caught my eye when I was driving around Carlisle was the old smoke stack out back (I'll post that some other day). Then it was the doorways. So I parked for a better look. Then I noticed the tiles. (are they bas relief? I'd hate to sound like I know what I'm talking about, so I won't). A wicked direct sun made these pictures a little tricky not to over expose.

Greenbackville, Va. 23356
Greenbackville, Virginia. Straight north across the bay from Chincoteague. Population 192. You don't realize until you start to look, but, there isn't a lot of non-typical post offices out there anymore. Nowadays they all seem to be those cookie cutter brick boxes.

Postseason, Baby!
The Orioles whooped up on the Red Sox this weekend. The Yankees split a few with the Blue Jays. And the Angels lost one to the Rangers. What Does this all mean? Postseason, baby! The O's have not been in the post season since they went wire to wire in 1997. So, now they are tied for first place in the American League East and tied on top of the AL Wild Card. October baseball in Charm City feels good.
How good does it feel? Even Hulk-Hand Ripken is celebrating.
(all pictures from 8/25/2012 game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays)
