Miscellaneous Fire Apparatus 2014-4

Fireboat Harry Newell, Ketchikan Fire Department
Ketchikan Harbor, Ketchikan, Alaska
Named for the only Line of Duty Death in KFD history. Arrived in 1986, 45 feet long it can pump 5,000 gallon per minute through four fire monitors. Captain Newell, 56, died while fighting a basement fire in Ketchikan on April 7,  1955.

Toronto, Ontario
Named for Toronto's first mayor.Built in 1964 it was refurbished in 2004. It is 81 feet long and includes a 54 foot aerial tower. Docked next to Fire Station 334 on Queens Quay West at the Peter Street Slip in Toronto Harbor.

Serac, National Parks Service, Glacier Bay, Alaska
This is the boat that brought the Park Service representatives out to the cruise ship when we toured Glacier Bay. (A serac is a block or column of glacial ice formed by intersecting crevasses on a glacier)
