Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Department. 1180 Buchanan Valley Road, Orrtanna, Pa. Adams County company 27. Founded in 1979, it would be years of hoops and red tape until the would go in service. They finally went into service on March 1, 1985, the same year they moved into their newly built station. In 2001 an activities center was added. Although they have only been serving a short time they suffered a line of duty death on October 4, 2007 when Firefighter/EMT Adam Cole died as a result of an auto accident while responding to a fire call.
