Hummelstown Chemical Fire Company








Hummelstown Chemical Fire Company No. 1, 249 East Main Street, Hummelstown, Pa. Dauphin County Station 46. Old station located at 39 East Main Street, built in the 1870's. Current station built in 1961.  Fire protection in Hummelstown dates back to 1816 with the purchase of  an engine. this engine was first stored on the square before moving around for years. The Citizen's Fire Company became official in 1882, Then the Niobe Fire Company No. 2 (organized in 1837, reorganized in 1850, reorganized again in 1865 and chartered in 1872) the Vigilant Fire Company No. 1 (1881 - short lived), the Hope Hose Fire Company No. 1 (1900-1905) and the Chemical Fire Company, organized in 1906. HCFC run about 400 call a year with  an engine, truck, rescue and a boat.
