Dewey Fire Company No. 1, 502 Durham Street, Hellertown, Pennsylvania, Northampton County Station 13. Established January 18, 1898 when they wrote their constitution and bylaws and then elected the first officers of Hellertown Hook and Ladder. Before they were chartered they changed the name to Dewey Fire Company No. 1 after U.S. Navy Admiral Dewey's victory in Manilla in May of 1898. In 1900 their first firehouse was built. It included the police station and town jail. The current station was dedicated in July 1955, with an addition in October 1979.
