Shenandoah Whitetail

This was the first group of whitetail deer I came to on an early morning walk in the Big Meadows of Shenandoah National Park. One doe, two fawns and a spike buck. They didn't seem to wary of me. They just kind of feed away from me as I moved around.

It's a Sunshine Day

I think I'll go for a walk outside now,
The summer sun's callin' my name,
(I hear you now)
I just can't stay inside all day,
I gotta get out, get me some of those rays.
Everybody's smiling', sunshine day,
Everybody's laughin', sunshine day,
Everybody seems so happy today
It's a sunshine day.

Just when I though that the sunflowers were finishing up for the summer, this field pops upon the old interwebs. There has got to be 50 acres plus here. And there all, like, waist high.

Pegasus Landing

We did get to witness a little excitement at Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park. While travelling south on Skyline Drive we saw a half dozen official cars and SUV's and an ambulance at one trailhead parking lot. Later when we drove to the Big Meadows parking lot the ranger told us to start walking there was a helicopter going to land soon. Pegasus is out of the University of Virginia at Charlottesville.
