This guy was walking down the middle of the road out at the Game Lands on Sunday morning. When I first spotted it, I was thinking it may be a grouse or hen pheasant. A few pictures through the windshield had me thinking quail or some sort of partridge. Well, near as I can tell it's a Chukar. Normally seen in the American west through the northwest. Around here pen raised Chukars are sometimes released for hunting purposes. This one got away.
