Engine 2, Rescue Squad 1, District of Columbia Fire and EMS, 500 F Street NW. Engine 2 organized on July 1 1864 at the Franklin Volunteer Fire House on D Street NW as a part time company with the Washington City Fire Department. On September 23, 1871 they became part of the District of Columbia Fire Department. E2 moved around some and finally settled here on May 31, 1979.
Rescue Squad 1 was organized on January 20, 1925 and quartered with Engine 2 on 12th Street NW. RS 1 moved around some and moved back with Engine 2 on March 9, 1953 and back on 12th Street NW.
