Lancaster City Bureau of Fire, Station 1
Lancaster City Bureau of Fire, Station 1, 425 West King Street, Lancaster, Pa. Lancaster County Station 64. The volunteer fire service in Lancaster dates back to the 1760's with The Union Fire Company, the Sun Fire Company and The Friendship Fire Company. The paid department in Lancaster was approved by the city on December 21, 1881 and then commenced operations in February 1882. The current station 1 was built in 1970, prior to that they were housed just up the block, at 411 West King Street, in what is now the Lancaster Opera Workshop.
