American Hose Company, No. 1, 39 Mauch Chunk Street, Tamaqua, Pa. Schuylkill County District 65, Station 1. The American Hose Company No. 1 was formed by the reorganization of the Reliance Hook and Ladder Company (organized in 1860) on January 17, 1878. The original frame building was located at Mauch Chunk and Pine Streets and was replaced with the current building in 1885. An addition was added in 1977 for the ambulances and the borough ladder truck. AFC1 is one of four companies that make up the Tamaqua Fire Department.
