Onward through Iowa, next stop... Winterset. Winterset is the birthplace of John Wayne. The house is preserved for tours and the John Wayne Museum, which opened in 2014, and closes at 5. We arrived right at 5PM, so we only got to look from outside. Winterset is also the county seat of Madison County. Yes, that Madison County. The courthouse was built in 1869. We only stopped at one of the covered bridges in Madison County. This is the Cedar Covered Bridge (built in 1883).
