Bowie Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., Station 19, 13008 9th Street, Bowie, Maryland. Prince George's County. Formed in early 1928, apparatus was originally housed in an auto repair garage. The first station was built on Chapel Avenue and dedicated December 17, 1928. In 1938 BVFD started a rescue squad service. A larger firehouse was built on 9th Street (shown here) and dedicated May 4, 1939. In September 1965 a second station was opened on Annapolis Road. A third station was added in April 1970. In July 1975 a new station 19 was opened and an addition was added in 1987. Station 19 houses an engine, BLS unit, utility and canteen.
