I stumbled on these old ghost ads while wandering about Cumberland Maryland last spring. Most of these I can decipher, some are lost to history. Queen City (something) Laundry is painted over McDade. Cumberland is known as the Queen City because it was once Maryland's second largest city. Then the classic Barber sign. No pole, though. The name of the Saloon is a bit faded, might be L. E. Deck? And a great :Cream of Kentucky, Grand ole Whiskey" sign. Cream of Kentucky was a bourbon brand owned by the Schenley Company in Frankfort, Kentucky. I think I read it is now the Buffalo Trace distillery. And finally is the Patton Sun-Proof Paint ad. "Go Farthest, Wear Longest", "Sold by Geo. E. Deneen, Co." A quick google search show a George E. Deneen ran for Allegany Sheriff in 1903. Same guy as the paint dealer?
