Melfa Volunteer Fire and Rescue

Melfa Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 28328 Hatton Street, Melfa, Virginia. Accomack County Station 10. The Melfa Volunteer Fire Company was organized in May of 1950, their 1924 American LaFrance engine was parked in a barn until a new firehouse was constructed on Council Street around 1955. On January 17, 1966 they merged with the Citizens Rescue Squad (Melfa's volunteer ambulance company, formed in December 1960). The new Melfa Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company moved into the old Citizen's station just down the street from the old station. The current station was opened in 2005 at the site of the old Citizen's station.
