More of Sunday's Sunset

Not much needs to be said. These are just some more of the sunset shots from Sunday evening. The second picture down (the one with the silos) is looking east. Never underestimate the eastern view of a western sunset.

Cumberland, Maryland at Sunset

This is the view from the C&O Canal Towpath. Overlooking the Potomac River to the left and the C&O Canal starting to the right. The Allegheny County Courthouse (left of center) and all the church steeples. The Cumberland Viaduct on Interstate 68 (the green  bridge right side), the Blue Bridge (Johnson Street to the Ridgeley, West Virginia side of the river) and the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad bridge in the foreground. And in the far distant back is the Great Allegheny Passage through the mountain.

And Then It Snowed and Snowed and Snowed...

Saturday it snowed around these parts. I measured 34" on my front deck. And that is like 10" over my snowblower. On Sunday the sun shined and eventually set with a bang. I hope if you got snow, you got dug out by now.

Feather Clouds

OK, so you can take the weatherman out of weather station but you can't take the observer out of the weather. This stuff still fascinates me. Have you ever seen clouds like this? This is literally steps from where it all began.

Neverending 64

Under a sky of azure
Where the balmy breezes blow,
Kissed by the golden sunshine is Nuevo Mejico.
Lands of the Montezuma,
With fiery hearts aglow,
Lands of the deeds historic,
Is Nuevo Mejico.

"Oh, Fair New Mexico" is the state song of New Mexico. Officially adopted in 1917, it is written by Elizabeth Garrett, daughter of Pat Garrett. Yeah, that Pat Garrett.
This is US 64 in the very northwest part of the state going towards Shiprock, NM.
