Indian River County Emergency Operations Center

Indian River County Department of Emergency Services, Emergency Management Center and Training Center. 4225 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida. Firefighting in Vero Beach was organized in 1921 and the Vero Beach Volunteer Fire Department was formed December 17, 1923. In 1980 the formed the South Indian River County Fire District and by referendum vote in 1991 they became the Indian River County Department of Emergency Services (IRCES) and operate out of 15 stations throughout the county. The EOC building was built in 2007 and the Training Center was add3ed in 2008.

Indian River Forestry Station

Indian River Forestry Station, 5255 41st Street, Vero Beach (Gifford), Florida. A part of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, District 16, Okeechobee District. Originally known as Vero Beach Forestry Service, they were located at the intersection of 4th Street and 43nd Avenue at the old fire tower (built in 1953). Other buildings supported the Service here. The main building on 41st Street was built in the summer of 2008 and the open garage was added on in 2017. The old fire tower was razed in 2022.
