Hershey's Chocolate: Larger than Life

Where else but Niagara Falls, Ontario would you expect to see such large confections? I just don't know. And I don't even like chocolate. These props at the Hershey's Chocolate World along Falls Avenue definitely get your attention.

Sunday Morning Sun Up

Went for a drive Sunday morning. I drove out to the State Game Lands and took a couple laps. No deer, though. I did see some hawks, several Great Blue Herons along the Conodoguinet and a Ring-necked Pheasant.

Blackbird Fly

Into the light of the dark black night. (Blackbird, the Beatles, 1968)

These blackbirds were a couple of lifers for me in Alaska. The top two are a Common Raven. We saw him hanging out at the sled dog homestead, outside Denali Park, Alaska. Probably there to steal dog food. The bottom two are Northwestern Crows. They are just a little smaller than the American Crow. Other than that they are only identifiable by were they live. These were in Haines, Alaska.

Sentinel Island Lighthouse

Sentinel Island Lighthouse is located on Sentinel Island in Favorite Channel, Alaska. 25 miles northwest of Juneau. This is one of the lighthouses we passed while whale watching out of Auke Bay. The Sentinel Island Light was one of the first two lighthouses built in the inside passage in 1901. Originally wood, it was replaced in 1935 with this structure. In 2004 it became the first lighthouse in Alaska to be transferred under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000.

The Road along the Ridge

This is the road to base camp. I once saw a t-shirt in Colorado Springs that stated that "Real Men Don't Need Guardrails". This is the road they were talking about.
