Pack Out

Pack out was a bit different this year. We actually packed into the neighboring outfitters barn. It made the ride a little longer but a lot flatter. Still, flatlanders like me only have so much built in saddle toleration time. This ride surpassed that time frame. It's been a week now, I think I'll survive.

Picking Up What They're Putting Down

And by "picking up what they're putting down" I don't mean Rocky Mountain chocolate drops. I'm talking shed antlers. These three were found 10 feet, 50 yards and 75 yards from the stand I sat all week. Yep, I don't know where the elk are in mid-October but I know where the hang out in late winter.

High Country Sunset

The sunsets in the high country can be incredible. The odd part is camp was on the east side of the mountain so the sun set early. Then wait a half hour or so, until the sun hit the real horizon, and the colors would then pop.

Early Morning at the Pack Station

I'm just back from another trip to Colorado. This one included horses and tents and lots of warm weather. Our week started out early on the morning after arriving in town. A 6:30 AM meet up with the outfitter and packers had us astride saddles and gaining elevations before the sunlight was shining on this part of the drainage.

Richmond 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

While traveling back home we stopped in Richmond, Virginia for one purpose but happened into their 6th Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at SunTrust Center in downtown. Very cool. We listened to the speeches and watched the firefighters enter the building before continuing on our way.
