Devil's Tower National Monument

Devil's Tower National Monument
aka: Bear Lodge Butte
Devil's Tower, Wyoming
September, 2018

We, at first, almost did a pass on this one. We were running late and you could see it from miles away. But, we figured a quick hike around the base and we'd be on the road again. The path around it is paved and about 1.3 miles long. You get the full 360 view of it and it was a nice walk. In addition on the back side from the visitor center you can see remnants of a ladder once used to climb it (1893-1927). No thanks. This was the first National Monument, designated such in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt.
