Afternoon Skies

While elk hunting the one thing you want is a change in the weather for the worst. Something to get the elk moving from the higher dark timber and on the move to the lower meadow and eventually down to lower elevations. That would have been ideal conditions. But by 10:30 every morning the temperatures were in the mid to high 40's, blue skies and sunshine. This kind of weather makes the elk find cooler shelter in the dark timber to rest during the day. It does the same for flat land hunters who wander around the high country every other year.
