Rapid City Fire Department, old Station 1

Rapid City Fire Department, old Station 1, 610 Main Street, Rapid City, Pennington County, South Dakota. The Rapid City Fire Department began, as many do, as a volunteer department around 1886. In the early 1900's the volunteer companies formed as the RCFD. This was the first station, built in 1915 and used until the Black Hills Flood of 1972. A new station was built in 1975. The department went fully paid in 1948 and currently operate out of 7 stations running more than 17,000 calls a year. In 1991 the old building was remodeled and reopened as the Firehouse Brewing Company.
