Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Station 9



 

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Station 9, 3225 North Falkenburg Road, Tampa, Florida. Hillsborough County, since the 1950's was protected by a loose community of volunteer fire companies. On January 1, 1964 the Hillsborough County Fire department was established to protect the county's unincorporated areas. In 1973 the county hired it's first firefighter. On January 1, 1997 the fire department and EMS consolidated and became Hillsborough Fire Rescue. By 2013, the department was fully career.  HCFR operate today out of 47 fire stations and 1 rescue station and handle about 140,000 calls each year. Station 9, built in Sabal Park in 1989, was dedicated on August 17, 2006, to honor Gilbert Rodriguez for his contributions and commitment to the department's training division. Station 9 houses a ladder (2021 Pierce Enforcer 7000, Ascendent rear mount, 2000/500/107'), foam unit with trailer, rescue, utility and HIT unit (Hazardous Incident Team).
