Colorado Bound

But not me. Yesterday two of the guys from my regular hunting crew left for Colorado and should be packing into camp later today. We normally go every other year and this would be an off year. But Clep had it in his mind he was going and eventually Spike gave in and signed up. Their camp is near the meadow shown in the last picture and Spike said he may even venture over to the Snag, the spot I sat in most of last year. So, good luck fellas I truly hope the Hunting Gods are smiling. And save me one for next year.

SkyWatch Saturday Night

Saturday evening was spent out at my parents house. It was the firehouse's annual pig roast, held in conjunction with a semi-annual fundraiser. The day starts slow but by evening friends and fellow firefighters are bringing covered dishes. The venison roast is on the campfire, the hot dog fork is loaded and hanging over the fire and the guys are starting to wrap the pigs. Also by this time the fire pit is burning a small fire and a fire has begun next to the pit. During all of this (and I will post more on the pig roast later) the sun was setting. At least two people said, "Hey, there's your SkyWatch picture for next week". I had already been taking pictures. First to last... 6:48 pm, 6:49 pm, 6:53 pm and 6:58 pm. All I did to these pictures is size them and sharpen them, nothing else.
As always click the SkyWatch icon on the right to see everyone else's sky.

Pullman Automobiles (PG 121)

The Pullman Automobile Company produced between 12,000 and 23,000 luxury autos from their plant in York, Pennsylvania, from 1905 until it ceased operations in 1917. They were named after but not affiliated to the Pullman Company that built luxury rail cars. In 1910 a roadster model sold for $1650 to $3200. They actually built a 3 axle - six wheeled version, just one, that had a tendency to see-saw on a high point in the road. This experiment ended at the same time it crashed into a telephone pole.

Atop the Monster

These are the famous Green Monster seats at Fenway Park in Boston. The BoSox may have won the American League Wildcard race and then got swept by the Angels in post season play but that won't shorten any line for these seats. Sitting up on top of the Green Monster in left field of Fenway, just 310 feet from homeplate and 37 feet up there is a waiting list for these seats and a price tag that doesn't reflect the fact that you can't see centerfield much less deep left field. These seats, all 294 of them added to the park in 2003, list at $160 a piece!

Freeport Big Indian... Larger than Life

Here he is - the FBI - which, of course, means Freeport Big Indian, not what you were thinking. Standing about 40 feet tall he watches over Freeport, Maine from along Route 1. Sitting in front of a vacant store, once Casco Bay Trading Company and lately Old World Gourmet Deli and Wine Gift basket's. (An Indian on Columbus Day is purely coincidental)
Just one more Larger Than Life statue I ran into on our Maine vacation. To see more near you checkout the list on ohiobarns.com.

From out of the Fog

OK, one more elk post then I'll take a break with it. But not for too long. This post actually started out as a test to see how to post a video. It's here so I guess I figured it out. The video contain no elk just sound. It wasn't more than 20 yards into the foggy woods. (Brad was only 10 feet away so it wasn't him) And the picture was a quick snap as he passed by.
