Louisville Bats Baseball

 Jairo Asencio was eventually called up the Baltimore. Pitched one inning and was designated for assignment.

 Tides first basemsn Travis Isikawa. Travis made the bigs with the O's shortly after this game (6/18) The Yankees picked him up and released him to make roster room for Jeter. The White Sox then picked him up and send him to their AAA tam in Charlotte. We saw him before playing single A with Hagerstown.

If vacation hadn't gotten crazy enough we drove to Louisville, Kentucky for a baseball game. That would mean we got into Memphis at 5:30 pm Thursday and left at 1:30 pm Friday. 20 hours. It's a 6 hour drive to Louisville, the game starts at 7. No problem we may be just a little late. Oops, there is a time zone to be crossed. Make that 7 hours, we're gonna be late. So, 4th inning we roll into Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats are playing the Norfolk Tide, The Orioles AAA team. Signature food at LSF was a fried bologna Hamburger, didn't see that until it was too late, I already settled for a stadium brat. Well, the Bats lost 1-2, but they had fireworks anyway. We left Louisville by noon Saturday. That would calculate to about 16 hours.

Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church

While driving up through Path Valley yesterday morning I detoured through beautiful downtown Spring Run. I at first noticed the old cemetery and the hand carved tombstones. But before leaving I captured some shots of the old brick church. The cornerstone told me that the church was founded in 1768. In 1768 this was the western frontier. The present edifice was built in 1856 and remodeled in 1884, 1926 and again in 1929. There was a newer addition off to my right. Thier website.

Here's to the Start of a Beautiful Day

Having a job that requires you to be outside a lot you get to see a lot. A lot of bad weather, I swear the summers are getting hotter and the winter's getting colder (or maybe I'm just getting old). A lot of miles. A lot of inconsiderate motorists. A lot of long days and sometimes a lot of long nights. But some days all the planets align and you get rewarded with a bluebird day. After a long month and a half of cold, hot and wet, I got this day.

Franklintown and Community Fire Company

Franklintown and Community Fire Company, 107 Baltimore Street, Dillsburg (Franklintown), Pa. York County Station 65. FCFC covers Franklintown Borough and Franklin Township. Established 1940. Little more can be found on them. Their website has been shutdown and there seems to be no history on their facebook page.

Valley Meadow Farms (PG 190)

I had driven by and worked past the Valley Meadow Farms several times through the spring and summer but never had the opportunity or gumption to pull along Interstate 68 to get any pictures. Finally found myself off of an obscure exit and right there in front of me was the Valley Meadow Farm. VMF sits along I-68 in western Maryland just west of the Sideling Hill cut and on Bottenfield Road. Apparently you can rent the farmhouse  by the day or by the week.
