Meet the Goslings

The young Canada Geese were waddling around at Dykeman's Spring a couple weeks ago. I'm sure they are getting bigger, but I saw more goslings about this size this weekend.

Oriole Fever

 First Baseman Chris Davis

 First Basemen Chris Davis

 Starting Pitcher Kevin Gausman

Third Basemen Paul Janish safe at home

 Meeting of the minds.
First Base Coach Wayne Kirby and Centerfielder Adam Jones

 Shortstop Manny Machado

 Relief Pitcher  Dylan Bundy

So the game didn't go the Oriole's way on Tuesday night. Yes, at times the game got a little boring. They lost 2 to 6 to Boston with just 7 hits. In the two game since this the O's took a win in both games, scoring 25 runs on 25 hits.

The Backyard So Far

A couple of pretty flowers,
Is what I brought to you,
I saw you through a broken window,
With a different point of view.
You had signs of depression,
From a long line of sin,
And your face tells a story,
'Bout the places you have been,
I love you so,
I thought t you should know.

At Least it was a Nice Sunset

First Orioles game of the year for me. Yeah, at least the sunset was nice. First to opposing batters homered. Their leadoff guy homered 3 times. By then it was out of reach, especially when they can't hit the ball.

Working for Peanuts

I found some large bird feed in my shed that I had forgotten about. So I put a little out on the walls to watch what would happen. Well, the Blue Jays were the first to attack. And they took the peanuts first. All of them. Then the chipmunks, squirrels and ever present Grackles finished things up.

Chesapeake Sunset

And finally the sunset, again and again, again. These are all from the Matapeake Clubhouse beach including the clubhouse. The Chesapeake Bay makes for an awesome canvas for an awesome sunset. All for your holiday weekend enjoyment.

New Vistors

I know that this time of year brings some new visitors (odd ducks) to Dykemans Spring so last weekend I went looking and found these guys. The first (pictures 1-3) I think, are mergansers. But I am not real confident of that diagnosis. The second is a Spotted Sandpiper. I've had that one confirmed. The biggest difference with these and the mallards and Canada geese it that the are a lot more skittish.  Mergansers. What do you think?
