Common Moorhen

I love it when I find something new. Walking along the dew wet grass at the Indian River Wetlands Lagoon I spotted these guys. Had no idea what they were til I go back and looked them up. Common Moorhens, aka Marsh Hens, are in the rail family and closely related to coots (what I thought they might be).

Wolf Creek Pass

Yes, it is that Wolf Creek Pass. And, yes, this is way up on the Great Divide. And if you keep on trucking on down the other side, you'll be in downtown Pagosa Springs. We can thank C.W. McCall for that tune playing in your head for the rest of the day.
