Fame Fire Company, old station





Fame Fire Company, old station, 108 Valley Street, Lewistown, Pa. Mifflin County. Fame Fire Company #2 was formed in the 1850's. It actually has ties back to 1838 and the Fame Fire Company #3 in West Chester, Pa. The addition was built in 1965. In 1923 Fame started the first ambulance service in Lewistown. In 1992 Fame Fire Company Ambulance Division, Inc became fame EMS, Inc. In 1994 Fame Fire Company #2 and Henderson Fire Company #1 merged to form United Fire and Rescue. At this time EMS moved into their new station farther up Valley Street. The building finally closed in 2008.
