Smudge

You probably thought I forgot about the whale pictures. Nope. This is one of the humpback whales we saw surfacing on our Alaskan Whale Watch. This is on Auke Bay north of Juneau. Along with our bus trip into Denali National Park, this is one of the best parts of the entire Alaska trip last June. This is whale number 1538, better known as Smudge. This is 10 pictures out of  a sequence of 29 I took of this whale surfacing.

On an Alaskan cruise and took an excursion today where I met Smudge myself. We have a series of pictures that looks a lot like yours. What an amazing day!
