Sons of Israel

There are many building in and around south central Pennsylvania that I've always admired as I drove by. Many, I think, "I'm gonna stop and gets some pictures of that building someday." The Sons of Israel synagogue on the northeast corner of  King and Second Streets in Chambersburg is one of them. It was originally the Second Congregation of the Methodist Episcopal Church and purchased in 1878 by the King Street Evangelical United Brethren Church and in 1939 it was purchased by the Congregation Sons of Israel. The synagogue is the only one in Franklin, Adams, Fulton and Southern Cumberland Counties.
