Toronto Fire Services, Station 334, 339 Queens Quay West, Toronto, Ontario. Station 334 is part of District 33, South Command. Built in 2000, it houses a pumper, EMS and the City fire boat. Fire service in Toronto began in 1826 with poorly trained volunteers and in 1874 they were better organized. TFS began January 1, 1998 when the six municipal fire departments within metropolitan Toronto amalgamated creating Canada's largest firefighting organization. TFS has 3100 employees serving 2.7 million citizens, running 108,000 fire, rescue and EMS calls per year.
